Red Hat Chapters are invited to come and enjoy the Southern Fried Festival. 

Red Hat events will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008

Our first contest was so much fun that we had to do it again!

RED HAT CONTEST

1)  We want to know in advance how many will be entering the contests. Please print off the entry form, complete it, and return it to the Maury County CVB at 8 Public Square, Columbia, TN 38401 or fax it to 931-375-4119 by September 15th.  One entry form per category.

2)  We will only have two hat categories this year.  Both will be made or decorated using Kentucky Fried Chicken Buckets.  One will be for Humorous/funny design and the second will be a Glamorous hat.  This should make it easier for the judges and contestants alike.

3)  Last, but not least - There were so many beautiful parasols made last year, we decided to add a Festive Parasol category.

RED HAT STRUT

Join your fellow Red Hat sisters as you "strut" around the Columbia Courthouse Square - two times around to the tune of Dixieland Jazz.  Bring your kazoo, your fancy red hat, and your decorated parasol.  Winners from the hat and parasol contests can proudly sport their ribbons as the crowds watch this fun event.  We'll look like a "second-line" New Orleans parade.

RED HAT SCHEDULE

10:00am All participants register for door prize, Southern Accents, 15 Public Square, Downtown Columbia

Contest participants - pick up your contest number at Southern Accents, 15 Public Square, Downtown Columbia.
10:30am - Noon Hat and Parasol Contests will be held on the stage on the east side of the Courthouse
Noon - 1:30pm Enjoy lunch at one of the Festival's food vendors
1:30pm Kazoo "strut" around the Square.  Put on your comfortable dancin' shoes so you can do a New Orleans second line strut twice around the Courthouse.  Line up in front of the stage on the east side of the Courthouse

When the contests and the "Strut" are over, stay and enjoy all the many vendors selling a variety of wares in the downtown area.  Or, take the shuttle down to the Riverwalk Park to enjoy the Antiques Flea Market.

At 4:00pm, the music cranks up on the Square with Sammi Moore, a Nashville Star finalist.  This year's headliners are Exile (6:00pm-7:30pm) and the Kentucky Headhunters (8:15pm-9:30pm) - two groups you don't want to miss.

There is no charge for the Red Hat Events.  There is a $2.00 admission charge into the event site.
